Hugh Warwick became curate at Rotherfield Peppard in October 2000. He was ordained priest on 30 September 2001. |

Hugh Warwick Hugh Warwick and his family arrived in Peppard in 1949, and he, his brother and sister grew up and went to school in the area. He studied music, and after trying for a very short while, joined the BBC where he worked for much of the time as a radio music producer until he retired in the mid 1990's. Although he lived in London for a while, when he met and married Auriel, who comes from New Zealand, they needed to make a base which was convenient to her work as Oxfordshire County Music Service's music therapist, and his need to commute to London. So they returned to the Peppard area. Hugh was ordained as a deacon in October 2000 by the Bishop of Oxford. Since his ordination as a priest on 30 September 2001, Hugh has taken communion services at Peppard and Greys but is now licensed to serve the benefice of Rotherfield Peppard and Kidmore End and Sonning Common. Hugh takes services at all three churches in the benefice. What is special to Hugh about All Saints'? "All Saints' has a special atmosphere that is difficult to define, but it probably grows out of a sense of history that goes back to the 13th Century, and carries with so much evidence of what the intervening ages have felt about their mission. There is a genuine sense of a caring community that covers the past, the present and holds great promise for the future. It is about the people who are so much part of God's family." |
